AT&T to offer $13.99 per month iPhone insurance

BGR reports that AT&T will offer insurance to iPhone customers for their devices. “AT&T will be launching a new insurance service starting June 6th, named MobileProtect, designed specifically for the Apple iPhone,” the report said. The insurance plan, will be run by Asurion and the cost for this monthly option will be $13.99. The option will be available through the App Store (maybe through AT&T’s iPhone app). The charges will be billed to the credit card on file with Apple. The yearly cost for the insurance option will be $168 which is probably on the expensive side. Users can buy the least expensive iPhone for $99 today. AT&T mentions that customers are complaining that a service like this does not exist and this is why they are launching this option. “Lack of iPhone insurance is a leading source of iPhone related customer complaints,” AT&T says in MobileProtect booklet.

      For $13.99/month ??? I don’t think so… That is just me though. However I can see why some people might pay for it.

    People who bought their iphones with Best Buy were all offered Black Tie for their iphones

    14.99 a month
    which is a big YIKES!

    but when it covers everything including smashing your phone into a wall, i find it worth it.

    People complain but dont research options which makes it their fault.

    also it covers a battery replacement on an IPHONE!
    go figure!

    i wonder if ATT’s will have a deductible

    best buys doesnt

    and they dont give you a refurb phone either

      Best Buy does not have a deductible which is great but the do replace it with a refurbished if you have to use the protection plan. On the plus side the refurbished iPhone still can carry the protection plan.(Had to use it a couple of times)That and the refurbished phone they sent me looked and functioned like a new one out of the box.

      Best Buy does not have a deductible which is great but the do replace it with a refurbished if you have to use the protection plan.     Well the efficacy of the insurance plan is always dependent on the protection and accident coverage on offer.
