This coming Monday, Steve Jobs will take the stage on Apple’s 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference. Compiling all the news and rumors around the net, AllNewsMac tries to predict what we will hear and see on Monday. What will the “one more thing” announcement be this year?
Sales and Marketing. Jobs will start his presentation with some numbers. We expect to see total iPad sales, iPhone OS market share and maybe Mac OS share and Mac sales. We already know that Apple sold 2 million iPads already. We expect that Jobs will update this number. Apple crashed financial analysts prediction last quarter with huge numbers in sales and revenue. We expect Jobs to make a note on these numbers.
iPhone OS. Apple will officially announce the release of iPhone OS 4. This version is already at the hands of developers and Apple will make the release public. We already know some of the new features of iPhone OS 4 but we expect some surprises as well. Apple will unveil Widgets, iChat and a better Photo application for the iPhone. In addition we expect all 3 iPhone OS devices, iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, to be on the same iPhone OS 4 version after the announcement.
iAd. Apple will announce the first contracts with big companies for the iAd platform.
Mac. We expect Apple to announce updates to Mac mini, MacBook Air and Mac Pro. Mac mini is expected to get an HDMI port in addition to Mini DisplayPort. MacBook Air is expected to get an upgrade on processor and graphics card. Mac Pro will also get an upgrade on processor and graphics card.
Mac OS. The chances of a Mac OS 10.7 preview are slim. However we do expect Apple to release Mac OS 10.6.4 fixing multiple bugs.
Safari. Safari will get an update with the ability to install extensions.
MobileMe. Apple will announce it will provide MobileMe for free to current and future Apple customers.
Apple Display. Apple will reveal new 24-inch and 30-inch LED HD displays.
iPhone. Steve Jobs will announce the next generation iPhone. The specs are already known. We expect Apple to make available 4 models. One with 32 GB storage and one with 64 GB and both will come in black and white. We expect prices to stay at the same levels as with iPhone 3GS at $199/$299. We also expect Apple to set a price of $99 for the current iPhone 3GS model. Apple will make NO announcements about a CDMA iPhone at this time. We expect Apple to announce a Verizon iPhone during its music oriented event at the beginning of November.
“One more thing”. Apple TV. Apple will introduce a totally new Apple TV device. It is going to be very small in size, with small hard drive and very limited number of ports, probably just an HDMI port. The new device will run iPhone OS 4 and will be powered by the A4 processor found in iPad and the next generation iPhone. The new Apple TV will utilize cloud services for streaming.
Let us know what you think Steve Jobs will announce Monday and what his “one more thing” will be this year.
