Apple announces iPhone 4, the next generation device in iPhone line

During the keynote of the 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference, Steve Jobs announced today the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 4. The new device comes with new design. iPhone 4 is 24% thinner that iPhone 3GS. It has glass in front and back, two cameras, front and back, and also LED flash. The frame of the new device acts as antenna for better reception. The new device comes with a brand new Retina display. The new display has four-times the density of the display found in iPhone 3GS. Apple claims the new display has 326 pixels per inch and 800:1 contrast ratio. The new device is powered by the A4 processor found in the iPad. iPhone 4 will give 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, and 40 hours of music with 300 hours standby. The new device comes with a second microphone for noise cancellation. Apple added another position sensor to the device called “gyroscope”. With this, the iPhone gets a total six-axis sensors. The back side of the new phone features a 5 megapixels camera utilizing backside illuminated sensor. The new camera is capable of recording HD video at 720p at 30fps. The new device supports Video Call over WiFi called “FaceTime”.

The new iPhone 4 is priced at $199 for the 16GB and $299 for the 32GB. It comes in two colors, Black and White. Apple dropped the price of iPhone 3GS 8GB at $99. Existing AT&T iPhone customers that their contract expires in 2010, will be able to get the upgrade. The new device will be available June 24.
