Steve Jobs announced today the renaming and rebranding of iPhone OS during the keynote presentation at 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference. The new name is iOS. The changes make a lot of sense as iPhone OS is now being used in three Apple devices, the iPhone, iPod touch, and the iPad. iOS 4 brings more than 100 new features including Multitasking, Folders, Better Mail, iBooks, Playlists, 5x digital zoom, Tap to focus video, Faces and Places, Wallpapers, Gift apps, Spell checking, Wireless keyboard support and more. iOS 4 works with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G. Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking is available only with iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. iOS 4 is available for developers today and will be available for the public on June 21 as a free upgrade for iPhone and iPod touch (except first generation).
