FaceTime can work without cell connection. FaceTime for iPod touch coming?

At the beginning of the month, we gave our opinion on what Steve Jobs didn’t say during the introduction of iPhone 4 in the 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference keynote. One of the things we think Jobs didn’t say, is that FaceTime will be available very soon in iPod touch devices as well as iPads. Today, confirmation comes that FaceTime doesn’t require any cell connection in order to work. After the initial setup (which requires cell connection only to register the device), users can initiate FaceTime calls without cell involvement at all. Actually, users can make FaceTime calls while the device is on “Airplane” mode. This opens the window for FaceTime to become available in other mobile devices with cameras. As iPod touch is expected to come with camera, we believe that FaceTime will be available on the device. The new iPod touch is expected at the beginning of November during Apple’s annual “music” event.
