In the much anticipated press conference about the iPhone 4 reception issues, Apple announced it will provide free Bumper cases for all iPhone 4 customers who purchase the device through September 30. “People said the bumper fixes everything… ‘why don’t you give everybody a case’? Okay — we’ll give you a free case,” Steve Jobs said during the presentation. In addition, Jobs said that if customers already purchased a Bumper case, they will get a refund. The refund will not apply to third-party cases. Apple said that will also ship the Bumper case free. “We can’t make enough bumpers. No way we can make enough in the quarter. So we’re going to source some cases and give you a choice,” Jobs said. Customers will be able to apply for the free Bumper case next week. It is unknown at this point why the September 30 day was selected. Steve Jobs said that Apple will re-evaluate then.
