Charlie Wolf of Needham & Company, noted that Mac government sales grew 200.8% year over year in the June quarter, well beyond the 12.1% growth seen by the rest of the PC market. In addition, the business market grew 49.8% for Apple during the quarter, while the market grew 15.7% in total. Apple’s best business sales came with very large companies, where Mac shipments improved 103%. Large businesses also bought 98.3% more Macs than the previous year. ”Whether the June blip was a one-quarter phenomenon or something more enduring should be revealed in future quarters,” Wolf wrote. Apple is making an effort to increase share in enterprises and small business. In July, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple was hiring engineers for its Retail Stores with their job being to support exclusively small businesses. In addition Apple is adding more features for enterprises and businesses in its OSs, Mac OS X and iOS.
